Human Design Profiles: the 12 line combinations.

Profile describes the role through which you meet experience. Its first number is your conscious Personality line; its second is your unconscious Design line.

Find the two-number result beside your bodygraph, then open the guide for that exact combination. Each guide explains the lines, shows how they interact, and applies the mechanics to relationships, work, and everyday situations.

Profile 1/3 · Foundation Profile

Investigator / Experimenter

The 1/3 Profile builds a foundation through research, then discovers which parts of that foundation survive contact with real life.

Conscious line 1Unconscious line 3Right Angle
Profile 1/4 · Transition Profile

Investigator / Networker

The 1/4 Profile develops trustworthy knowledge and carries it outward through friendship, community, and established relationships.

Conscious line 1Unconscious line 4Right Angle
Profile 2/4 · Foundation Profile

Hermit / Networker

The 2/4 Profile needs real retreat and a dependable network: natural gifts ripen in private, while trusted people recognize when those gifts are ready to be called out.

Conscious line 2Unconscious line 4Right Angle
Profile 2/5 · Transition Profile

Hermit / Problem-Solver

The 2/5 Profile combines a private Natural with an unconscious projection field that can make other people expect a practical answer, rescue, or solution.

Conscious line 2Unconscious line 5Right Angle
Profile 3/5 · Foundation Profile

Experimenter / Problem-Solver

The 3/5 Profile learns through direct experiments, then turns the useful findings into practical solutions that other people can apply.

Conscious line 3Unconscious line 5Right Angle
Profile 3/6 · Transition Profile

Experimenter / Role Model

The 3/6 Profile joins a conscious life of trial and adjustment with an unconscious three-phase process that gradually turns experience into perspective.

Conscious line 3Unconscious line 6Right Angle
Profile 4/6 · Foundation Profile

Networker / Role Model

The 4/6 Profile influences through trusted relationships while an unconscious Role Model process gradually makes lived integrity more important than persuasion.

Conscious line 4Unconscious line 6Right Angle
Profile 4/1 · Juxtaposition Profile

Networker / Investigator

The 4/1 is the single Juxtaposition Profile: a conscious Networker carries influence through trusted people while an unconscious Investigator supplies a firm internal foundation.

Conscious line 4Unconscious line 1Juxtaposition
Profile 5/1 · Foundation Profile

Problem-Solver / Investigator

The 5/1 Profile is publicly projected as a practical authority while an unconscious Investigator works to build the foundation that makes a promised solution deliverable.

Conscious line 5Unconscious line 1Left Angle
Profile 5/2 · Transition Profile

Problem-Solver / Hermit

The 5/2 Profile carries a conscious public projection field and an unconscious Natural that needs retreat, creating a push and pull between broad practical impact and private availability.

Conscious line 5Unconscious line 2Left Angle
Profile 6/2 · Foundation Profile

Role Model / Hermit

The 6/2 Profile moves through the Role Model’s three life phases while an unconscious Natural needs retreat and is often called out by others for gifts it does not advertise.

Profile 6/3 · Transition Profile

Role Model / Experimenter

The 6/3 Profile combines the Role Model’s three-phase perspective with an unconscious Experimenter that continues to meet new variables, test reality, and revise throughout life.

Each number has a distinct mechanical role.

A line changes depending on whether it appears first and consciously or second and unconsciously. These are the core themes before they are combined into a Profile.

1

Investigator

Foundation, research, security, and depth

2

Hermit / Natural

Traditional name: Hermit

Natural gifts, retreat, projection, and the right call

3

Experimenter

Traditional name: Martyr

Trial and error, adaptation, resilience, and lived discovery

4

Networker

Traditional name: Opportunist

Trusted relationships, influence, friendship, and opportunity

How Profile is calculated

Personality line first. Design line second.

Cosmic Oceans calculates the planetary activations for your birth moment and the Design point roughly 88 degrees of solar movement earlier. The line numbers of the two Sun/Earth pairs form the Profile.

First number · Personality

Conscious line

This comes from the black Personality Sun and Earth and is often easier to recognize as part of your intentions and self-image.

Second number · Design

Unconscious line

This comes from the red Design Sun and Earth and may be easier for other people to see in your body, behavior, and recurring patterns.

Step 01

Enter accurate birth data

Use your birth date, exact local birth time, and birthplace.

Step 02

Read the Profile field

Look for a two-number result such as 2/4, 4/1, or 6/3.

Step 03

Read it with the full chart

Keep Type, Strategy, and Authority beside the Profile guide.

Human Design Profile questions

Profile mechanics, clearly answered.

What are the 12 Human Design Profiles?

The 12 Profiles are 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6, 4/6, 4/1, 5/1, 5/2, 6/2, and 6/3. Each combines one conscious Personality line with one unconscious Design line.

How is Human Design Profile calculated?

Profile comes from the line numbers of the Personality Sun and Earth and the Design Sun and Earth. The first number is conscious; the second is unconscious. A bodygraph calculator derives both from birth date, exact local birth time, and birthplace.

What do the two Profile numbers mean?

The first number describes the conscious Personality line and is often easier to recognize in yourself. The second describes the unconscious Design line and may be more visible to other people or through recurring body and life patterns.

Can two people with the same Profile be very different?

Yes. Profile is one layer of the bodygraph. Type, Strategy, Authority, Definition, centers, channels, gates, Incarnation Cross, conditioning, age, culture, and lived circumstances all change how a Profile is expressed.

Can my Human Design Profile change?

A natal Profile does not change, but an inaccurate birth time can produce the wrong result near a line boundary. The way a Profile is lived can also change substantially with age, experience, and deconditioning.

Human Design is a modern esoteric framework for self-reflection, not a scientifically validated diagnostic system. It does not replace medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice.
