How your energy meets life
Type and Strategy describe the way your energy naturally engages with people, opportunities, work, and change—before the mind begins trying to control the outcome.
Human Design Bodygraph
Your bodygraph is a map of how energy moves through you—how you are built to engage with life, recognize decisions, use your natural strengths, and notice the places where the world can shape you most deeply.

What your Human Design reveals
Type and Strategy describe the way your energy naturally engages with people, opportunities, work, and change—before the mind begins trying to control the outcome.
Authority points to the bodily signal your chart treats as most reliable, whether clarity comes through emotion, instinct, response, will, identity, or another inner process.
Defined centers show energy that tends to feel consistent. Open centers show where you may take in, magnify, and learn from the people and environments around you.
How the bodygraph is calculated
The Personality activations come from the planetary positions at the moment of birth. They describe qualities you may recognize more consciously—the parts of your pattern that feel easier to name as “me.”
The Design activations are calculated from the moment the Sun stood 88 degrees earlier, roughly three months before birth. They describe a more embodied, unconscious layer that other people may notice in you before you notice it in yourself.
How to read your chart
A bodygraph contains a great deal of information. You do not need to understand every gate before it can become practical. Start with Type, Strategy, and Authority; then add the layers that explain how those foundations become uniquely yours.
The broad mechanics of how your energy moves and the way your design is meant to meet what arrives.
Your chart’s decision-making compass—the inner process to consult before committing from pressure, fear, or mental urgency.
Two lines that describe how you learn, relate, develop wisdom, and move through the recurring roles life places in front of you.
The bodygraph’s energetic architecture: what stays consistent, what remains receptive, and which themes connect into a steady current.
The specific archetypal themes carried by your conscious and unconscious planetary placements, including the lines that give each gate its particular expression.
The deepest reading is not the one with the most terminology. It is the one that helps you catch the exact moment you override yourself, rush clarity, borrow someone else’s pressure, or move in a way that finally feels like your own.
Using Human Design in daily life
Try one part of the chart at a time. Notice what happens when you follow your Strategy instead of forcing access, attention, or certainty. Notice what your Authority feels like before the mind turns the choice into an argument.
Watch your open centers without treating them as flaws. They are often where pressure, comparison, emotional weather, or the need to prove something becomes loudest—and where discernment can grow strongest.
The chart is most honest when it is tested against lived experience. Keep what becomes observable. Stay curious about what does not. Human Design is an experiment in recognition, not a reason to hand your choices to a label.

Frequently asked questions
Human Design is a modern self-reflection system introduced by Ra Uru Hu in 1987. It combines an astrology-based planetary calculation with the I Ching’s 64 hexagrams, the chakra system, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, and its own system of Types, Authorities, centers, channels, and gates.
You need your birth date, exact local birth time, and birthplace. The date and time establish the planetary activations, while the birthplace supplies the historical timezone needed to convert the local time accurately.
The Personality side uses the planetary positions at birth. The Design side uses a second calculation from roughly three months earlier, when the Sun was 88 degrees behind its birth position. Together they form the black and red activations shown in the bodygraph.
Strategy describes how your Type is designed to engage with life. Authority describes how you are meant to recognize a correct decision from within your own process. Strategy opens the interaction; Authority helps you decide whether the particular choice is right for you.
You can explore a chart made with an approximate time, but some activations and even core chart mechanics can change near a boundary. If possible, compare a few plausible times and verify the time through a birth certificate or official record before treating the details as final.
Your natal bodygraph stays anchored to your birth data. What changes is your relationship to it. Conditioning, experience, relationships, and current planetary transits can make different parts of the design more noticeable at different stages of life.
